Lesson 2: How to Describe a Digital Circuit for FPGA

In this lesson, you'll learn about different techniques for describing digital circuits that are targeted for FPGAs, including the professional approach to doing so. We'll also walk through a simple example to introduce you to the fundamental concepts of using VHDL as a hardware description language for implementing circuits in software.

Lesson 3: 7 Steps for FPGA Circuit Implementation

Turning a digital idea into a practical implementation on an FPGA involves several steps, including design entry, design simulation, synthesis, placement, routing, creating a configuration file, and configuring the FPGA itself. In this lesson, we'll cover each of these steps in detail to help you become familiar with the entire process.

Lesson 4: Implementing a Real Project: Part 1

In this lesson and the next, we'll walk through a practical example to review all seven implementation steps in detail. Through this example, you'll get familiar with the various sections of the ISE software and learn how to create a project within it.

Lesson 5: Implementing a Real Project: Part2

Building upon the example from Lesson 4, you'll learn how to assign FPGA pins to circuit ports using a file called a UCF. We'll cover the process of synthesizing and implementing the circuit, as well as creating a configuration file for programming the FPGA. Finally, we'll program the FPGA using an actual development board to see the practical result of our implementation.
